Roger Grinnell with grandson Cameron Matthew Ruggeri, taken in 2007I am sorry to have to report the passing of Roger Lee Grinnell, the younger and much loved brother of GFA Board Member, David Lawrence Grinnell, on Saturday, December 14, 2013.

Roger Lee Grinnell, GFA #564, was born September 14, 1946 the youngest son of Clairmont Livesey Grinnell, Jr. and Mildred Anna Gladding. Roger was married to Patricia Ann Sullivan and was the proud father of Dawn Michael Grinnell, Jacqueline Leigh Grinnell Ruggieri, and Rebecca Lynn Hennion and the loving grandfather of 4 grandchildren.

Roger retired from the US Coast Guard Reserve with the military rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9), and with whom he served during Operation Desert Storm in the Gulf of Arabia. He was a jeweler with the J. H. Breaknell & Co. Jewelry Company of Newport, Rhode Island and worked for years as a foreign car technician in the Newport and Middletown, Rhode Island area.

Roger was an 8th great grandson of Matthew Greenell and his wife Rose French, as well as a descendant of Roger Williams and Anne Marbury Hutchinson. Roger was also a member of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution, the Society of the Sons of the Revolution and the Order of the Founders and Patrirots of America through Matthew Greenell, Founder and Robert Grinnell, Patriot.
